She had arrived too late. Blood was everywhere, and those who hadn’t been slaughtered already were running for their dear lives. Shrines were set afire, and one person stood in the middle of it all. The Western Taiyoukai Sesshoumaru.
“Kikyou-sama! Please exorcise this vile creature!” one villager shouted.
The miko stood for a moment, unsure of what to do. She didn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of actually killing him, let alone inflicting pain upon him. Still, she could try. With lighting speed, she drew her bow and arrows, firing her one of her famous purifying arrows at the Taiyoukai.
“Keh. Orokamona…” he said in a voice barely above a whisper as he caught the arrow, melting it instantly with his Toxic Flower Claws.
“Shinidama-chuu!” at her call, the soul-carrying insects swarmed him. Still, no effect. Sesshoumaru remained unharmed.
“It is useless to fight me, wench. If you treasure your life, leave now,” he growled, unusually angry. His amber eyes began to glow blood red.
‘He’s showing some demonic features…there’s no way I can defeat him…that leaves me with one choice.’ Kikyou thought as the enraged inuyoukai charged. She pulled out something, tossed it in the air, and with beams of light, they flew towards Sesshoumaru’s neck.
“Release!”
*WHAM!*
Sesshoumaru suddenly fell face-first into the ground, his tail stiff as a dead cat’s except for an occasional twitch.
“Explain, woman!” he growled, his face still in the ground.
Kikyou laughed. “It’s a submission spell. As long as you wear those prayer beads around your neck, whenever I say that word, this shall be the result.”
“What if I were to remove them?” He tried every way imaginable to try and remove it, but the beaded necklace wouldn’t budge.
“Only I can remove it. Now, be a good doggy and leave this poor village alone.”
“You dare mock me?”
“Release!”
*WHAM!*
Surviving villagers began to sneak glances at the scene, unsure what to think. Kikyou seemed to have the youkai under control, but it was no where near being dead.
“You can come out now. He is of minimal threat now,” she announced.
People of all ages crowded around their strange visitors. The inuyoukai, for an unknown reason, refused to leave. He would occasionally try to search the elders’ huts, seeming to search for something, although Kikyou’s word provided excellent security.
Later that night, a banquet was thrown in her honor. Again, Sesshoumaru tried to join, but was soon forced out. Without another word, he left for the forest.
“I shall regain it. These humans shall pay dearly.”
Meanwhile at the banquet, fireworks lit the midnight sky, and many people reeking of sake danced merrily and clumsily to the exciting music. Children gathered around Kikyou, pelting her with questions on her remarkable abilities. They laughed and gathered medicinal herbs. Kikyou was even kind enough to play games with them. Still, her mind was distant.
‘That was Inuyasha’s elder half-brother, if memory serves…I don’t remember him ever showing much emotion. Also, despite his hate towards humans, it seems unlike him to attack a village. He does have that little girl in his care, so what has made him act so?’
“Kikyou-sama!” one of the children piped up, startling the miko out of her thoughts.
“Yes?”
“Why did that youkai attack us?”
Kikyou remained silent for a moment. “I don’t know…I just don’t know…”
Doesn't it suck? I know, I'm so proud! ^___________^
