His smoldering eyes stared back up into hers as she presented this new and very intriguing proposition to him. "Is that so?" he silkily whispered back -- even though he did not quite know why they were whispering, as they were alone.

"...Mmhrmm..." If Sesshoumaru had wanted to say anything else, she didn't quite give him a chance to do so, for her lips had captured his in a deep, sensuous kiss, her weight still on top of him.

His unusually effeminate lashes fluttered closed as his large hands rested comfortably on the small of her back, bringing her down just a little bit harder every so often to deepen the kiss before lightening the pressure to resume the softer affection.

Kikyou teasingly pulled away from him and smirked before her lips met his soft skin once more, slowly tracing the contours of his neck and moving on to his pointy ears, where she whispered in a breathless voice. "...Are you sure you want to go to sleep...?"

"Mmm..." He shook his head after a moment's debate. "Suddenly, I don't think I'm very sleepy anymore..." he trailed off with a rare grin, adjusting his head so his neck was bent around hers and his lips were near her ear. "Are you?"

"Hmm..." She murmured in reply, a light and wonderful shudder running up her spine as his rich voice came to her ears. "Not sleepy at all..." She gave him a mischievious smile just a second before her lips went down on his once more, capturing them in a frantic, torrid kiss.

"Mmmf..." Whatever Sesshoumaru had been going to say died away as he became lost in her wonderfully scandelous kiss. When it broke at last, he gasped for air, his voice breathy, "Kikyou..."

He staggered through the forest, following the faint sound of water... Always it grew stronger, not once had it failed. With each step that he took his spirits lifted, and hope grew in his heart, so much so, that several times he had caught himself running, almost mad in his panic to taste the life-giving water. "Steady now... Your legs are weak, and the wild is full of tricks..." He mentally reminded himself.
From the moment he had found himself left in a descecrated pile of brush within the forest's heart, he had been lost, and in quite a great deal of pain... Looking down at the tattered remants of his robes, he noted that they were stained with days old blood, none of it his own... For his body was unmarred by any wounds, except a shallow gash on his forehead that he had wrapped with a torn off bandage made of his own clothing... But the fact that he was lost, and hurt paled in comparision with his other concerns...
For he really had no idea who he was, or where he came from... Or even how to use the sword he had found slung along his sash... And the forest offered no reminders to him; he had not seen hide nor hair of any squirrel, deer, rabbit, or even a kindly bird... Thankfully, he had not met any wolves. The forest seemed lifeless and empty. Pine and oak, even birch and poplar, all of the trees grew tall and thin. High above, their branches knitted together into a canopy that was so thick that he could not often see even a glimpse of the sun. When he did, it was as though he were a frog looking up from the bottom of a well. He could not tell from which direction sun had come, or where sun was going to.
Before he could continue on this line of thought, a slight twinge within his skull made him wince slightly... But in the next instant, he grabbed his head, the sensation metamorphosing into a sudden, maddening stab of pain, rendering his befuddled brain into two pieces and forcing him to his knees... Vaguely, he felt the bandage beneath his hands saturate itself with liquid... A liquid, had he been lucid enough to comprehend it, was his own blood.... His mind, fevered with pain, and his body growing numb, he staggered back to his feet, hobbling aimlessly along the broken and ill-known trails of the forest... Fear-glazed violet eyes gazing blindly through matted tendrils of raven hair.

At once, his spindly digits disentangled themselves from her silken locks of raven and the taiyoukai slowly lifted both him and her, breaking away from her delightful kiss only at the last moment. His breath came in ragid short gasps; both from the attempt to recover the air he had lost during their brief display of passion but also from the sudden tension that had befallen the shady forest glen.
His hooked nose was in the air with an indignant thrust of his stately jaw and chin. It twitched once or twice before recoiling to scrunch in what could only be disgust. All at once, his nimble fingers were back on the miko's body, though this time they were pressed firmly into her back, drawing her closer with a gentle but demanding ease. It was all he could do to prevent the throaty growl from escaping the depths of his core.
But alas, it came, along with the utterance of the single dread word. "...InuYasha..."

"Hmm...?" She cast a pair of half confused, half questioning pools of earth-brown color at the taiyoukai. "...Inuyasha..? What about him...?"

"The loathsome half-man is near," he sneered in response, obviously extremely upset.

Kikyou turned slightly away, her mahogany eyes being cast down and staring at nothing. Her head was hanging low and her raven bangs shadowing her delicate features, giving her an eerie touch of sadness. "That... is not possible, Sesshoumaru...." At long last came her morbid voice. "...Inuyasha... is dead...."

He gave her a queer expression. "Doubt you my senses, koishi?"

"Of course not, my dear." She turned to him again and tenderly held his face in her hands. "But it's been a few years since I last heard about Inuyasha... and I don't really sense his youki in the area..."

Within the troubled confines of his mind, the forest began to take on a threatning presense of its own... The wind moaned in pain as it passed through the reedy trees. In the shadows things began to stir.... A snapped twig became a shadowy creature which when glimpsed for a moment took on a more substantial form. '... I'm going to die...' He thought listlessly, the pain scraping over his disturbed brain like the claws of an anonymous beast over the flesh of its would-be prey...
Screams, eerily familiar, rang out into the shadowed environment surrounding him... They were the screams of the dying, meals for the monsters lurking in the unknown crevices of darkness that met his fear-glazed eyes as his feet stumbled aimlessly over roots and old foliage. 'I'll be next...' The man thought, panic beginning to build within his gut. 'They'll smell me... And eat me...' With that last, profound thought track, his eyes widened, and before he was even aware of it, he began to run... And the thing his panicked mind kept subconsciously composing crept out from its birth place beneath a fallen tree. He screamed and ran yet faster, still deeper into the wood... The half remembered thing, ever more substantial, stretched its shadowy legs and gave chase.
----
His breathing became erratic, manifesting itself in frantic, random gasps that sent his heart to colliding harshly against his rib cage. He had no idea how long he had been running, he didn't care. As long as he got away from the darkness that threatened to consume him... And suddenly, thankfully, it seemed his prayers had been answered, as the forest began to thin out, giving way to a shallow border... But his polluted mind wouldn't let go of the beast that nipped hungrily at his heels... And thus it came to be that the animal caught his legs and threw him forward, sending him hurtling into the brush like a rag doll, his body sprawling into a shaded glen, where it crashed violently upon the hard, unyielding earth. "H-help me..." He whimpered into the air, covering his head in fear of the beast's wrath... In fear that it would finish him off.
But after a few minutes, he still lay on the ground... Untouched. In response, he lifted his forearm from his eyes and stared back into the way he had came... Nothing met his sight but the cluster of shadows he had been thrown from... 'Thank the gods...' The man thought, but it was then that he felt his gut tighten uncomfortably in light of a new knowledge... His body was paralyzed with exhaustion. If any other animal of the forest wanted him as a meal, it would be more then easy enough to take him... 'Is this where it ends...?' He asked himself, though not sure if he was lucid enough to provide an answer...
So instead, he began to look around, his eyes tracing the contours of what was likely to be his last resting place... But instead of the emptiness he had been expecting, he was met with the sight he wouldn't soon forget... A face, delicate, pale, and beautiful... Like the moon. Beset with a pair of shaded orbs that called forth a feeling of sudden warmth from within his tired bones... What creature was this? She certainly wasn't of the shadows, and she certainly was no animal...
He wanted to say something... Anything. A word of greeting, of question... Perhaps praise? ... But within his mangled thought processes, he could think of only one word worthy enough to grace such a creature... "... Angel." He murmured softly, laying his head gratefully upon the earth and casting his eyes into the comforting oblivion that awaited him in hers.
