With a slight oomph, Sesshoumaru carefully maneuvered his behind so that the bulk of his weight was transfered to the hard Earth on which they were, rather than her admittedly comfortable, if somewhat small, lap.
But having been unable to tear his seering magma chambers away from her own enrapturing dark chocolate pools, he remained, for the most part, with his upper body stationed over hers, a position rather associated with lovers, if one stopped to think about it.
So still strands of his silver-hued tresses dared to brush against her soft skin, particularly against her cheeks, and his his warm breath trickled in one of her twin pinnacles as his somehow inviting lips puffed out to form an equally confused set of words, "...Kik...you?"

Her once melancholic eyes were now gleaming with both, confusion and another feeling she hadn't had for quite a long while; joy. It really was him! She could barely believe such pleasant, though rather surprising, reunion.
"What..." The miko finally started after a long pause, her slightly trembling hand reaching out to stroke the silver locks on his crescent moon marked forehead. "When... How did you get here..?"

Still standing in the dirt path, Ayame's seagreen eyes looked up towards the pure blue sky as she began to speak to herself in annoyance. "Who the hell was I supposed to meet here anyways??"
Her eyes lowered slightly so that she was now looking at the village. "I don't think I've ever seen this village before anyways..." Giving a shrug, she began to walk towards the bustling area. Motioning with the wave of her hand to her pack members, she simply let them know that she was checking the village out and they were to stay there unless they received some sort of signal that she needed their help.
"Like I'd actually need help in a human village..." She snorted slightly, her confidence getting the better of her. It's not like a few humans alone could actually hurt her... However.... Some humans could actually stand a threat to her well-being, including the Inuyasha-gumi if they were enemies.
"That reminds me... I wonder how Kagome, Sango, and Miroku are doing," She said to herself thoughtfully as she made her way past villagers, who were obviously used to the fact that youkai walked through their village. "It must be one of those villages that get along with the youkai... But a lot has changed it appears since Naraku's death."

Sesshoumaru tossed back his head with a cold, mirthless laugh, his speech growing freer with his bemusement. "How? One's self would certainly like to know as well. One moment I was simply there, trapped in that horrifying little jewel of yours, the next minute I was hurtling through a miasma barrier and landing in your lap, miko-dono,"

"Trapped inside... the jewel...?" She brought the Tama closer to her narrowing eyes, blinking rapidly in confusion for a moment. "What in the world were you doing and how did you get there?" She glanced down at him, although never realizing that he was still on her lap.

"Naraku," Sesshoumaru explained simply, with a rolling shrug of his shoulders, though his eyes betrayed silent fury. It was several moments before either said anything else, and he finally broke the silence, noticing rather sheepishly that he was still stationed above her, soft skin brushing against hers as he carefully removed herself from on her.

"Naraku..." She muttered angrily, clenching her fists tightly. The very mentioning of that dreadul name still made her sick and disgusted, in spite of all the time that had ellapsed since the day his reign of terror and disgrace was brought to an end. She had tried to forget... tried to ignore... but it was useless. Someway or another, Naraku would always torture her existance.
"But if you had been trapped inside the tama all this time..." She finally started, shrugging the previous thoughts off. "...how come you only managed to escape now?"

"That is because," he paused, to gather his thoughts into words, "It is a nearly endless abyss, and I spent all my days traveling from one end to another, looking for a way out when today, I finally stumbled upon it, to my complete and utter joy..."

"Oh..." She glanced down at the jewel in her hands once more, wondering how such a small thing could hold a world of anguish and doom inside it. She suddenly raised her eyes to meet his, her softened gaze now reflecting a hint of compassion for her old acquaintance. "It must've been hard for you...being alone all this time..."

His eyes fluttered closed and he slowly inhaled, and they did not open again until every last puff of air had been exhaled again. "Very," he agreed, pausing, before continuing, his voice eerily placid, "One would have thought the heartlest Western Overlord would have appreciated the solitude but...It was...It was hard..."
Hard not seeing Rin...Even that pesky toad thing...But especially not seeing you...Bellflower...

Kikyou slowly nodded in silence, fixing her gaze on his amber pools. Exactly the same way as a decade ago, Sesshoumaru still had trouble in letting his emotions flow freely, but if she focused hard enough, she could see them through his eyes. Sorrow... pain... loneliness... Those feelings she knew oh-so-well, all reflected in those beautiful eyes of his...
"I can imagine..." Upon realizing she had been staring at him, the miko quickly casts her eyes downwards once more. "But it's over now... and..." She hesitated before saying the next set of words in a whisper-like voice. "...you don't have to be alone anymore..."

"Oh?" his voice cracked and even he was surprised. "Tell me who, then, dearest miko, is going to keep me company? If I am destined to not be alone, praytell who will fill that void besides the shadows? Rin is long gone and even that annoyance of a toad is who-knows-where..."
He caught a certain gleam in her eye. "Were you going to say you?" he laughed shrilly at this. "Don't decieve yourself, Kikyou. Even I know you are still hung up on that impertinent little puppy of yours..."
All of the sudden he fell quiet. "Forgive me." it was bruseque. "That was...wrong of me to say..."

"..." Kikyou merely turned away and fell silent. Oh, if only he knew... If only he knew that, for ten long years, the silver-haired man that haunted the miko in her dreams wasn't Inuyasha... If he knew the face she had longed to see every day wasn't the hanyou's...
Right now, however, he was just being plain mean, much to her dismay. And it was times like that that made Kikyou really wonder why she ever cared for Sesshoumaru...

An awkward silence descended upon the two and during that time his eyes and facial expression softened, losing the rage that had overcame him just mere moments ago. He stiffened, however, for you could cut the tension with Tenseiga...
"Err..." he reached out to finger a few locks of hair that had swung into his face. In a minute or so, he lost thought of what he had been going to say and just concentrated on running those few idle strands through his fingers. When he finally caught himself, he, the great demon Lord actually looked quite embarrassed and quickly pressed the locks back into their rightful place, his deadly glaws scraping gingerly, gently even, across the back of her neck as he did so.

Kikyou felt her eyes widening as a light tinge ran freely through her body. What the heck was he doing? How could he be so mean and so gentle right afterwards...? And why... why did his mere touch STILL affect her this much...?
Not being able to find her so-needed answers, she merely turned to the demon lord and cast a pair of questioning eyes at him, wondering what was going on inside that enigmatic, pretty little mind of his.
