"Kikyou..." his breathed her name, voice hoarse. He stared back at her, his gaze smoldering with the burning feeling he held for her deep within his heart. Once more his hands ventured out to play with her hair, though he gave that notion up and decided to softly thumb her cheek instead. All the while, his gaze held hers, almost daring her to stop him.

The miko froze for a second, her eyes widening ever so slightly at the course of his actions. Why did he have to be this way? Why did he have to awaken all those feelings from the past, feelings that she had so carefully buried so to never get hurt again...?
She wanted to pull away from him gentle grip, wanted to deny those emotions... wanted to just let him go... She couldn't, though. In fact, the only thing she could do at the moment was fluttering her eyes closed and enjoying his warm touch, as she, too, whispered his name. "Se-Sesshoumaru..."

"...I..." he hesitated, before deciding to just let his cold barrier fall completely and admit, "You were the one I missed most of all, miko..."

The miko merely stared at him, a blank expression sprouting on her face. She was the one he had missed the most? Could her ears be deceiving her? No.. He indeed -did- say that... Her eyes softened cosiderably at that realization and, before she could notice what she was doing, her hand had reached up to stroke his chin, feeling compelled to say something."..I...missed you too..." She certainly knew of the consequences her words could bring, but at that moment, she simply did not care.

His liquid eyes were forced to turn away from the ground and boldly capture her gaze. "...Oh...?" He tried to deny the effect her minstrations were having on him, but in the end all he could do was sigh with contentment.

She nodded idly, a somewhat embarrassed smile gracing her lips as they locked gazes. "It's ironical, though... All this time we missed each other...and yet, one was the only person that the other always had around no matter what..." She trailed off, bringing the Shikon no Tama up to her earth-brown eyes.

"This is true..." he nodded with a look of acquired contemplation. "I never...Really thought of it that way..."

Kikyou nodded briefly, a small smile gracing her lips. She then felt a familiar presence lurking around and moved her eyes upwards, spotting her soul-catchers. "Shinidama-Chuu..." She whispered, frowning lightly.

He caught her frown and trailed his eyes upwards to greet the sight that had caught her attention so. "Shinidama-Chuu...?" he repeated, looking confused until a dawn of realization struck him and he said, quite blandly, "Oh...Your soul-snatchers."

Kikyou sighed rather loudly as one of her serpent-like creatures hovered right over her chest and dropped an intense glowing light orb over her cold body, being absorbed into it right afterwards. "Almost unbelievable..." She spoke in a sad whisper, fluttering her eyes closed. "...how they have remained loyal to me all these years..."

"This is true," he nods in agreement, glancing up at the serpentine creatures with something akin to distaste. Snakes...Natural enemy to all four-legged, furred creatures... He resisted the urge to bare his fangs.

Her keen senses captured some tension coming out of every little pore of Sesshoumaru's skin, and she allowed her eyelids to flutter open once more. "...Are you uncomfortable with them? If you are, I can dismiss them for now..."

He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and locked gazes with her, studying her delicate facial features for but a moment before averting his eyes. "It is fine..." he tried to assure her, though his voice came out gruff. "Just a little natural...wariness..."

"I see." Kikyou greeted him with understanding eyes, as another Shinidama-Chuu brushed against her skin, delivering her a newly-caught soul. "Serpents and dogs are natural foes, isn't that right?"

"Yes," he nodded, relieved she understood his plot. He stood silent for a few moments, growing more and more uncomfortable as time wore on. He wished he had told her to send them away, but...she needed them.
Shuddering inwardly when one accidentally brushed against his own skin, he sucked in his breath and his eyes nearly rolled back in his head. Finally, he could take it no longer...
In one, swift motion, he extracted a certain sword from its' sheathe and brought it crashing down upon the miko and her serpentine creatures. He bit his lip because he knew it would appear to be a brutal murder, another betrayel to the already broken-hearted miko, but...
...That wasn't the case at all...
