"Wouldn't we all?" he snorted, leaning back in the booth. "That was my philsophy too, 'til I met Sango, that is...But, doesn't seem like I have to worry too much - Kuranosuke's courting her...THE Kuranosuke..."
And by that he meant the Kuranosuke who was known only by his first name, the Kuranosuke who was one of the wealthiest business tycoons in the country. The Kuranosuke who got everything he wanted.
Needless to say, Miroku made a disgusted face.

Ayame dropped her bagel, a look of pure annoyance appearing on her face at the mention of Kuranosuke's name. "You mean that bastard's still got the guts to be as greedy as ever?!"
Irritably, she began to flick her bottle's cap, calming down a little. "He's so full of himself it's not funny... Grandfather made me meet him in hopes of love at first sight. Pff... His voice drove me nuts the first five minutes it was so fake." But she grinned, "I poured scorching hot coffee on him then stormed out of the cafe."

Miroku smirked, looking a bit less anxious at his own situation. "From what I hear Sango's got quite the temper herself...I'm just hoping that little bitc.h says something smart to her one of these days and she sees him for what he really is..."
"And then I hope she decks him one," he added with a wicked little grin.

Ayame snig.gered evilly, "Oh trust me... he will... And then someone could always plant the seed of doubt in her head too."
She stopped talking altogether as a thoughtful look appeared on her face. "That COULD work... but she might not want to believe it... but on the other hand she may want to believe it..." Ayame ran a hand through her hair, "Relationships are so complicated... A reason why I'd rather not rely on a anyone for happiness or anything like that."

"Amen, sista' friend," he sighed. "Love sucks."

"Anyway," he drawled, crushing his water bottle between his hands after glancing at his watch. "I suppose I should head out now..."

Ayame 'hmm'ed in agreement as she glanced at her own watch. Her bagel lay completely forgotten on the table because of their conversation, but her hunger was forgotten... until now that is.
"I'm gonna finish my bagel then leave myself. I have to get ready for that formal 'dance/dinner' event later on tonight." This caused her to roll those seagreen eyes of hers as she continued.
"If your father gives you any trouble about leaving the meeting, just gimme a call and I'll take care of it for you. You can get me anywhere by calling the secretary of my family's company and she'll tell you where to get me." A smile played her lips, "It was great meeting you Miroku."

Biting back a sneer, Kouga felt his thigh being tickled. Flipping out his cell phone, he was notified by his driver that his ride had arrived. With a very small 'keh' he stood up, discarding his now-lukewarm coffee in the trash and headed for the elevator to the lobby. Taking one last glance at the inticing redhead, he flashed a smile as if to assure her he had not been spying, and pressed the 'Close Door' button.

Seagreen eyes had looked towards the blue-eyed man when he had gotten up and slowly trailed after him as he threw his trash away then walked towards the exit. Upon receiving a smile from him, she tilted her head to the side, continuing to look at him until he disappeared. "..." Ayame finally snapped out of it as she turned back to her cold bagel and just gave a tired sigh.
A little while later, she stood up and threw out her trash, also walking to the elevator and exiting the building. Walking down the street, her eyes became slightly distant as her thoughts switched from dread for the upcoming dance and that blue eyed boy. "Don't tell me he's going to keep coming into every thought like I'm in love with him..." She said darkly. In no way possible was she going to fall for a guy-- not now, and hopefully not anytime soon. There were too many emotional wounds from her last relationship to open herself to someone else now.

[Wai!! ;-; tis silent here... and I'm bored... xP]
It was seven thirty right now and Ayame had spent the good part of her afternoon preparing for this business dinner/dance. Heck, she wouldn't even be going through all of this just to look nice if it wasn't for her grandfather and uncle practically strangling her in order to make her go. She'd rather just be laying on her bed, in her pajamas right now, eating a thing of ice cream and watching movies if she had it her way. But no... She was getting ready. And the thing was, she wasn't even doing HALF of the preparing.
Nope... Someone did her hair, blow drying it straight then putting it up into pig tails, insisting that she looked 'cute' like that. She almost gagged. Then someone else had her try on her dress, which Ayame had to admit wasn't THAT bad for a dress. But she wasn't going to admit that anytime soon. And yet someone else was putting make-up, if you'd call it that, a little bit of blush and a light lip gloss. This made her roll her eyes.
Now she was sitting in the limo with her grandfather and uncle, them grinning from ear to ear with excitement about tonight. Ayame sat across from the two, her right leg crossed over her left, her hands resting on her lap as she looked at them flatly. She was wearing a pale yellow dress, the shoulder straps being that of spaghetti straps, and the thin, silky material reached a few inches higher than her knees. To add to the outfit, she was wearing some white sandals which would, at the end of the night, be killing her feet.
"Ayame, you really look splendid tonight," Her uncle said. "Here, let me help you out." Her uncle was a decent man, when he and her grandfather weren't prying into her life that is.
"I'm fine..." She said quite icily, but her uncle paid no heed as he offered his hand. Ignoring it, Ayame stepped out of the limo and walked briskly inside the place wanting to get this night over with as soon as possible.

Miroku's luncheon had gone splendidly well. Not only did he have a new friend and someone could entertain him well, but in the future when he was forced to take over his father's company, a loyal business partner. Sesshoumaru had been great company. As he had learned, his new-found friend was also attending the formal that was that night.
So when the time came, Sesshoumaru nervously stepped into the spacious ballroom, his pressed suit/tuxedo crisp at the folds from starching.

Ayame stood slightly off to the side of the buffet table, absentmindedly placing a roll of bread and salad on her plate as she watched the couples dance on the dance floor. Rolling her eyes to this, she completely abandoned her plate of food and walked over to where her grandfather and uncle were happily chatting with some other company's official. "I want to leave..." She said in a low tone as her grandfather turned his attention towards her.
"Leave? But Ayame we haven't even been here for five minutes yet! Just open up and have a conversation with one of the young men over there!" Ayame looked with questionable eyes towards the group of young heirs, only to frown. "No thanks..." She said, walking away from him and out onto the balcony, where she proceeded to just lean onto the edge and stare up at the moon and stars.

"Lovely night, isn't it?" a pleasantly cool voice interrupted what appeared to be a thoughtful reverie. The silver-haired man was, of course, referring to the ginger-haired woman, who looked about as pleased to be there as he was.

Ayame glanced backwards towards the silver haired man, "Yeah, it's too... crowded in there for my tastes anyways." She simply stated and turned her back to the ledge of the balcony so she could face him and the clear glass doors.
