Kouga stepped out of his car and bid farewell to his driver. As soon as the tailights disappeared, he looked around shifilty before pulling out a cigarette. He opened his lighter and cupped his hand around the flame, protecting it against the wind before bringing it to his cancer stick.
He was supposed to be quitting smoking, and he was, but he had a puff or two now and then when he was bothered or worried. Watching the smoke blow away, he frowned slightly as it failed to erase the ginger haired girl from his mind. Not wanting to waste a good weed, he had a few more puffs before grinding it into the nearby ashtray.
~~~
Aggghhh....this sucks... Kouga thought wearily as he endured yet another handshake. I need AIR...
"Oh..." he added after a moment's silence passed between the two, and he held up his hands before him in a gesture that came to be familiar with 'I meant no harm'. "In case you were suspicious of the intentions of this...seemingly 'overly random to the point of being convenient' conversation, I'm not fishing for a marriage. In fact, I'm fending off the possibility of several of my own," he gave a dry, short little chuckle.
Ayame raised an eyebrow, but just shrugged it off. "It didn't even cross my mind to be honest... But since we seem to have the same objective... I'm Ayame."
"Sesshoumaru," he returned with the same chuckle as before, swooping low to bow with lavish expidenture. "Pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise. I'd curtsey... but I think my dress is too short to do it properly." She sweatdropped, opting to offer her hand for a handshake instead.
Sesshoumaru momentarily eyed her hand before receiving it with a well met shake. After this was done, he merely took a step back and, saying nothing, gazed up at nature's elegance his new acquaintance had been studying. After a moment though, he glanced back at her. "Ahh...So now that we know one another, I would hope you wouldn't find it too trite of me to ask which company you're here to represent this fine evening?"
Ayame drummed her fingers against the stone edge of the balcony, giving a soft sigh. "Shoubu's... And yourself?"
"Senshi's..." he informed her, though there was an odd catch in his voice, for he was now involved in much more than "legitamate" business.
"Senshi... Senshi... The name rings a bell..." Ayame said, bringing a hand up to her lips in thought. "Senshi Sesshomaru... Oh yes, my uncle's told me about you. You're the new heir to your family's business!" She looked up at him quite suddenly and shook her head with a small mysterious, yet knowing smile.
"That business... my uncle's told me."
His eyes narrowed even as they crinkled merrily, and in the shadows, it was rather hard to tell if he was smiling or sneering. "Is that so?" he chuckled lightly.
A frown appeared on her features as she turned her back to him and leaned against the ledge of the balcony once again. Eyes looking back towards the moon, she said quietly, "Yes. And the only reason why I know is because my grandfather and your father have worked together a few times..."
"Ah...Well, that explains it all. I was beginning to wonder if our security was a bit lax...Not like I should talk; Didn't know the truth of the matter myself until just yesterday...But, in any case..."
"Ah..." Ayame replied, still looking up at the moon. "Well it's not. Heck if you even mentioned it so some of the top workers at any company chances are they wouldn't have an idea what you were talking about."
"True," he agreed with a slight nod of the head, folding his hands behind his back. With that he approached the balcony, though a good ways away from where Kanna was; silence fell between them as he too, took to gazing up at the moon.
Ayame let out a tired sigh, "This whole ordeal tonight is too boring for me... It's not like I was actually looking for a husband; contrary to what my uncle and grandfather believe."
