Is anyone else disturbed at the fates of the priestesses who hold the Shikon no Tama face? Midoriko was torn apart by demons, her spirit forever trapped waging a war within the jewel. Kikyo's power, which drove her to a fairly introverted life in the first place, led to her demise due to her station as protector of the jewel and those who sought it. And now Kagome not only has the jewel reborn and removed from within her like Midoriko, but she's also Kikyo's reincarnation. Is anyone else worried at the possibilities that spells out for her future?

You know, that's always bothered me too. Especially after learning that Tsubaki cast a spell on Kikyou, where she would "die an unnatural death" should she [Kikyou] ever fall in love.
...And along came a spider...

Any one who has ever held the jewel period has had bad things happen to them. Things of great power attract great misfortune. It seems this little rock proves that true.

Yup, that's true too...
So judging from the looks of it, Kagome's in for more than just a bumpy ride. Poor girl.

Well, considering whats happened to her so far, I think she can adapt to most new situations rather well. She has that remarkable ability to keep on going.

That may be true, but you could have said the same for Kikyou. She took out a great number of both powerful and not-so-powerful demons in her own time, as well as made it all the way back to the village while losing blood at a rapid rate and effectively dying. Kikyou was also much more accomplished in taking care of her own self, rather than relying on the protection of others...Though maybe this attributes to her downfall, in a way. Anyway, while I agree Kagome has a certain knack for surviving in a rock in a hard place, and we've seen her and the gang face some pretty fierce foes, but to quote (with pronoun modified from its original 'you' format): "We ain't seen nothing yet."

True. Things will only get worse. If you had to use Yu Yu Hakusho demon levels as a reference, then how strong would you label the strongest minion Naraku has sent out to destroy them?

Kagome can acclimate, sure, but she's in alot of danger. Not just from Naraku and other youkai who want the jewel shards, but she's also in danger from her own power - look at what she can do already, and she doesn't even know how to control it! Kikyo at least knwe how to put a lock on her power. Kagome doesn't. I'd be more afraid of Kagome being overwhelmed by her own hidden powers when she attempts to purify the jewel more than anything else.

Makes alot of sense though. If Kagome's power ever went out of control, several unfortunate things would happen. For one thing, her chance of death from the encounter would be fairly high. Second thing, the chance of death for every one around her would be very high.

I don't know if any of you have seen it, because I downloaded it last summer, but there's this one episode where Tsubaki does something or other to Kagome and she kind of attacks Inu-boy and gives him a run for his money.

Ironically, that episode was just on last night on Cartoon Network. I have a love/hate relationship with that episode. Though I appreciate that it touches upon Kagome's hidden powers, I also thought it was going to be a diving board for Takahashi to head into the dangers of Kagome's ignorance regarding her powers. But, no, Kagome's still as unskilled as she was from day one. Which is a bad thing, in my opinion.

unfortunately, I think that Takahashi is too distracted developing relationships to develop Kagome. She's had more than enough manga chapters and anime episodes to do so with. I would enjoy Inuyasha much more if they developed Kagome's power instead of constantly putting her in the position of damsel in distress, with a few token moments every now and then.

Sure, SavingRain, I would like the some thing too...but you know what, Kagome will always be the sissy little f*cked up girl who has nothing better to do then cry all the f*cking time. But maybe if she was stronger, and her name was Kikyou, and if she WAS Kikyou, and if she looked exactly like Kikyou...lets just say, I would like her then^^
