"Hmm..." Kirara averted her gaze. "Understandable," She concurred at last, shyly turning her eyes in Naraku's direction. "But you do, do you not?"

Naraku gave a grunt, earning a harsh jab in the ribs by his pale sister. Grumbling, he spoke, leaning back in his chair with a look of disinterest. "I suppose I do." A pause came as cold, heartless eyes stared directly into Kirara's. "If Kanna has no problem with this... whatever this agreement is, then I guess we can sever ties with one another."

Kirara blinked and glanced at Shippou from the corner of her eyes, the edge of her mouth twitching primly once or twice, her point obviously not being grasped by the elder of the two. Oh well. She sighed. "Yes. Yes of course..." Maybe it would be better this way, anyway. Trying to get along with them was like trying to make swiss cheese with a block of American and a shotgun.

Kanna gave a soft sigh as she slapped her forehead, shaking her head. Honestly, she really did wonder what her brother had for a brain. Maybe it was a peanut, she mused, giving a look at Naraku when her quickly glanced over at her.
She needed a drink...
Fiddling her thumbs, almost nervously, she watched the couple who continued their dancing.
She really needed something alcoholic...
"Umm... I'll be right back... Anyone want anything from the bar while I'm gone?"

"No, thank you." Kirara shook her head, offering Kanna a tired smile.
Shippou glanced about uneasily before sliding from his seat. "I'll come with you, I think." He decided, leaving Kirara and Naraku to trade stubborn looks.

Kanna looked towards the floor, almost as if she were embarassed for some unknown reason as she walked with Shippo towards the bar. Opening her mouth to say something, she looked away until making it to the counter where she sat down and quietly asked for a drink. "Do you think..." She began, looking down at her pale hands which were currently resting on the counter, "That it's wise to leave those two alone...?"

"Probably not," Shippou admitted as he too, placed his drink order. He offered her a feeble grin. "But the worst they can do is kill each other, right?"

Kanna cracked a small grin as she looked over towards him. "Yeah probably... Though by the way my brother is being, I'd say it wouldn't be that much of a loss if Kirara got to him first..."

Shippou smirked and, upon glancing over his shoulder and spying Kirara just about ready to claw Naraku, laughed. "No worries there, it seems."

Kanna gave a confused look as she also glanced over her shoulder towards their table. Laughing quietly, she looked back forward and blew a few stray strands of hair out of her face. "At least we know that they actually had a polite conversation before hell broke loose."

Shippou chuckled softly, a rumbling sort of sound. His attention diverged once the bartender finished mixing their drinks. Thanking the man profusely, Shippou took a loooong sip of his Scotch/Rum mixture.

Kanna gave a small smile to the bartender as she slowly twirled the thin straw in her alcoholic beverage. Taking a small sip, she let out a tired sigh and rubbed her temples. "I hate business... It's all so fake..." A depressed sigh escaped her as she continued, not caring if Shippo heard her or not at this point. "I want it all over with... I don't want to go to anymore of these dinners... parties... I'm sick of seeing older men trying to flirt with Kagura and myself..." She paused, looking sadly down at her drink. "Yet I can't seem to get away from it-- To make matters worse, there's another party I have to go to in a few days."

He looked at her with such compassionate understanding eyes that passerbys may have confused the look with one of deep love. But that wasn't quite his style...His expression quickly shifted to that of a goofy sort of sadness; he was like a clown, hiding his tears behind an ever-grinning mask. But clowns are scary, so maybe that's not quite an appropriate simile. He nodded slowly, taking another sip of his concoction. "I know what you mean," He agreed, upon setting his glass down. "I hate it. I really do. Sometimes I wish I was just a poor factory worker. I may be tired and hungry, but at least I'd be happy."

Kanna's hands clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "I've always thought about running away..." She tilted her head down do that now her silvery white bangs shaded her eyes. "Just run away and go somewhere near the beach... anywhere peaceful." She looked up, a fake smile appearing. "But I'm being somewhat selfish. I have my obligations in my family to complete. Maybe when I get married or something I'll move away from this. Till then I guess I gotta suck it up like everyone else."

"Running away," He murmured thoughtfully. "Now there's a novel thought...As selfish as it may be, it'd be wonderful to just pack up and well, go. Leaving everyone else to sort out the mess..." He sighed suddenly, polishing off his drink. "But there's no use in complaining, eh? All it does is make one feel worse..."
