The Mormon rain stole from the sand dunes, swirling the grit and granules it picked up through the air with lavish expidenture. The terra firma packed solid, dry and cracked, from lack of precipitation. Yes, this was the badland, where the scum of the Earth made their fortunes. A vast land of precious treasure, just waiting to be looted. And Senshi Sesshoumaru intended to do just that.
The undisputed King of Bandits, the handsome young rogue ruled the desert with an iron fist, governing it better than most monarchs. However, for all his wealth, there was still something the fiery young man desired...Or rather, someone.
Higurashi Kikyou, Empress of the entire Shikon Kingdom and its surrounding provinces. Her and her entourage were going to be passing through his domain in but an hour or so, on their way back to the Royal Castle. He would be kidnapping her then. He heard she rather fancied him, in that novel sort of way. It would make his work all the easier.
Smirking arrogantly, he strapped on his scimitar and tied back his unruly locks into a tail of some sorts. Scratching his chest, left bare to the vest he wore, he lumbered outside of his hidden desert palace and mounted his pure white Arabian steed.
He would have his love by the time the sun set. He swore it.

The very tips of his cool fingers traced along the sharp contours of her high cheekbones. Her own spindly digits were woven in the messy mass of raven he called hair. Sweat still lingered on the both of them, the vaguest of hints of what had just transpired. Their nudity masked by the pure white sheets, they lay together, forms entangled.
The pirate captain smiled kindly at his wife, his soft lips claiming hers. Once their impassioned kiss ended, they spoke of their current expedition, eventually falling asleep, still in one another's loving embrace.

His coppery locks were drenched with a mixture of perspiration and canteen water, matted across his sunburned forehead. He wiped the sweat from his brow and shielded his gaze, trying to catch sight of his fair-skinned fiance'. Burdened by the heavy pack strapped to his back, he wiped his oily palms on the side of his khacki clothes -- the garb of an adventurer.

Earth-brown oculars observed with little interest the sinuous movements of the sand on those dry lands, tracing serpent-like contours on its way. Royalty or not, the scorching sun had no mercy towards the maiden or her loyal companions, forcing them to endure its flaming rays of light.
Higurashi Kikyou sighed and patted her white camel's head, commanding it to take a pause; the animal's body had long begun to tremble slightly, in an obvious display of exhaustion, and she had finally decided to grant it some rest. It had been a tiring trip, not only for the camels and horses, but also for the Empress of the Shikon Kingdom and her entire scort. She made a gesture at her loyal servants and allowed them to set camp, just long enough so that they would replenish their energy.
The young ruler of the Shikon domains climbed off Desert Snow, her trusty white camel, and took a step forth, trying to spot any hints of danger. Nothing. Still, that uneasy feeling lingered in her chest. It was said that Senshi Sesshoumaru, King of Bandits, had a peculiar interest in her, and that he was lurking around, stalking her wherever she would go. Somehow, this obsession of his attracted Kikyou, just as much as it scared her...
And at that time and place, she was easy prey for Sesshoumaru and his lot.

The wind howled fiercely in his stead, but the Bandit King would not be deterred. Trailing after the procession for some time, he was able to discern they relied mostly on camels, willing to sacrifice speed for safety. He could not help but smirk as he caught sight of a slender form riding atop a heavily guarded camel. It was her. It had to be. And so he led a charge.

Her black hair was burning from the ungrateful hurting of the sun. It was too hot. Her face was full of sweat, and her skin was darkening by the second. Damn the heat. Not only was her jet black hair burning by the hands of the sun, but also her clothes. All black. She would not change to a less brighter color, though. She choose what she thought she needed to choose. To become a sealth worrier, one who killed under the shadows, even in the light, darkness would still protect her. She was a skilled assassin. Her hooded cloak was not covering her pretty, cute face yet. She needed time to concentrate on what was ahead of her path. Her black horse kept steady, and yet traveled at great time in great speed. What was her goal? What was her fate? What was to happen? Heh... She had decided to serve for one who truly cared and loved her. One who would take her fathers place. One who made her what she was at this moment. Though... there was still something missing in her life...something forgotten. Her memories were all unthought of, and she only knew of what she was from the day he took her in. Naraku. Why did all want his death? She never knew...and she seemed to be one of his only trustworthy "daughters"...besides Kanna. Now Naraku wanted her to kill one she now hated. She remembered what he had done to her, what he had said before Naraku saved her. He told her to die. She was useless and he never loved nor cared for her. She was just another human. Sickness to the world once agian. Damn him. Now she wanted nothing but his life. She wanted to kill him. She wanted Sesshomaru to die.

Royal oculars widened at the sight before them. Meters away from her party, they - the bandits of the desert -viciously charged towards her; leading the infamous army was a young, rough-looking man, his silvery locks whipping the wind around him.
It was him. The so called King of Bandits, Sesshoumaru.
Her guards drew out their swords and got into their respective fighting instances, though a couple of them set up their fastest horse - one of the few available then - for the Empress's escape. Her rpide nearly forced her into refusing doing so, but her safety came first. The Shikon Kingdom would not do without their ruler...and Lord Inuyasha, King for the Western Lands, would not tolerate having his fiancé taken away from him.
Shooting a piercing glare at Sesshoumaru's troops, Kikyou climbed on the horse and rode away, followed only by two of her most skilled guards that should ensure her safety.
[Whoa...this is interesting... Rin is a servant of Naraku's who wants to kill Sesshoumaru who wants to kidnap Kikyou who wants Naraku dead... And Inuyasha is the lord of the Western Lands... and yup, Shia, I took the fiancé idea after all! Kakakakakaka! >D]

The storm peaked, and a majority of the swirling sand took a harsh dive off of what could now be properly identified as a large cliff, with gentle, sloping sides. At first glance, it had appeared as if all Sesshoumaru had with him were the few men flanking his sides. However, once the sky was momentarily clear...The single sound of a horses' step could be heard, echoing all throughout the sandy tundra. A fact that would be very peculiar, had most of Empress Kikyou's entourage looked up, seeing that the sound had been caused as the result of...the unision of many, many horses. Hundreds of horsebacked men suddenly appeared on the horizon.
Sounding off an old horn, the gathered army of at least one thousand men, all suited for desert travel and combat, led a second wave against the procession. In the ensuing chaos, Sesshoumaru was able to slip away, thundering hard after the Princess. As fast as her horse may be, nothing could be a purebred Arabian in its natural surroundings...
Raising his scimitar, he shook his arm wildly at her guards, shouting jeers and insults, mocking their pale white skin and how they acted so arrogant in a situation and location in which they were so extraordinarily clumsy. It was true; no matter how skilled they were, he had the extreme advantage. Not only was he used to fighting in such conditions, but he did not wear the heavy, awkward armor that would prevent them from being able to grapple on the sand.

She thought of running away. She thought of riding as fast and far as her horse could go, but decided against it. God knows what that Senshi guy could do to her guards... He'd probably kill them, but she was not wiling sacrifice any more lives for hers. She had been raised as a princess, and a princess should know her people's needs come before hers.
"I assume you are Senshi Sesshoumaru, King of Bandits." She spoke in a defying tone, her raven locks dancing magestically in the desert's winds. "What is it that you wish from the Shikon Kingdom?"

He eyed her coldly, with a contemputuous little snort. "Their Empress." His response was brusque; sinister, even. Sliding down from his horse, he rolled his wrist so that his curved weapon made an inviting little guesture. "Come with me and I won't run these rookies through...Hell, I'll even give them safe passage through the desert."

She regarded him with ice-cold indifferent eyes and moved forth, head held high as an Empress should do even in such situation. "What do you want from me, then... King of the desert?" She prounounced the last set of words slowly, her tone filled with disdain.

He cast his slender weapon over his his shoulder, allowing the hilt to nestle in the crook of said appendage. "It's about time you city scum realize that, " He sneered. "Not like you do anything for us anyway, so why should you have the privelege of 'ruling' our home? Anyway..." He trailed off, his smirk widening by the minute. "For you to be my 'Queen', of course. Every good monarch has to have one, you know."

Kikyou inhaled sharply, suppressing her anger. How dared he speak to her that way?! He obviously had no manners or a drop of respect for anyone else... "I'm afraid that cannot be." She refused to spare another look at the man. "I am engaged to Tetsu Inuyasha, King of the West."

He sent her his most chilling stare. "Do me a favor, sweetheart," He hissed, whipping the scimitar from its resting place, suddenly quite unnaturally close to the Empress. Placing the edge of the blade up against her throat, he knocked her chin back, so that she was forced to look straight up at the blinding sun. With her attention diverted, he held up three fingers at the cowering guards and began to mouth a countdown. Understandably, they leapt atop their horses and fled. "And never, ever speak that mongrel's name in front of me again."

"Otherwise you'll do what?" Her voice was low and held tints of darkness to it. "Kill me? Heh. I do not fear death, bandit."
