Kanna let out a soft sigh as she placed two fingers gently on his lips. Smiling slightly, she gave a nod. "I understand... just rest now."

At the sound of opening doors, Kikyou turned around and glanced around from the corner of her narrow oculars, acknowledging Sesshoumaru's presence. "So..." She started, offering him a sarcastic little smirk. "...the great King has not forgotten about his 'queen' yet, huh...? I'm flattered..."

He frowned and for a moment, his expression was something other than its usual unreadable self. Slowly advancing upon her, one hand found itself cupping her cheek, the other supporting his own weight as he hovered over her and the wall. His serpentine neck dipped low and his head bobbed a moment, his lips grazing past her other cheek, warm breath trickling into her ear. "...If you can honestly say...That you'd prefer to be placed on a pedestal and locked away in some stuffy old castle..." He whispered; hoarsely, fiercely. "Then I'll let you go."
He did not know what possessed him to make such a promise, but it felt important to him, somehow...

"Mmm..." Shippou's eyes fluttered closed at her words, his chest heaving upwards in the best sigh he could muster without causing himself pain.

Kanna couldn't help but smile as she watched his exhausted form sleep in front of her. After a few moments of just watching him, she stood up and walked over to the window, glancing outside towards the deserted street. "Why do I have the feeling... that something is going to happen..."

She gulped hard, quick heartbeats pumping up a rush of blood and warmth up to her face. What was wrong with her, and why did that man make her feel like a silly teenager...? Mustering all her self-composure, she replied in a low whisper, turning her head to his side. "...Perhaps I don't want to be placed on a pedestal, as you say...but I do not appreciate being a prisioner either..."

His gaze, which had been hard up until then, infinitely softened. A small smile tugged at his lips and he removed himself from her immediate bubble of personal space, though his hand found hers and he gave it a strangely affectionate squeeze. "Then," He began, that quirky smile growing, "I ask you...To stay here...As our guest."

She studied him for one or two minutes, unsure of what to say next. Truth be told, she couldn't think properly at the moment, for Sesshoumaru's single touch had spurred strange emotions in the former miko... A soft sigh escaped her lips and she at last decided to reply, smiling sligthly. "You're a strange man, Sesshoumaru... An intricate puzzle, indeed... Very well." She folded her arms, her eyes now focused on his. "I will stay... as a guest... I hope you will tell your men I am not to be treated as a prisioner, then..."

He suddenly sneered, even as he gave her hand another squeeze before dropping it and folding his arms across his chest. Holding his hand before his face, his knuckles briefly rippled and his slender fingers curled, resulting in a fist, which he lowered after a moment. "You won't have to worry about them."
His words were sincere, despite their dangerous undertones. It was, put simply...A promise.

Kikyou chuckled slightly at his ways. "Is it really...?" She rested one elbow against her knee and propped her head up on her hand, leaning forth as to shorten the gap between the King of Bandits and herself. It was weird, but he had on her the same effect of magnets on metal, something not even her fiancé could do. "...Can I take it...as a promise...?" She inquired in a teasing whisper.

"Sure, he muttered gruffly, averting his gaze. Imagine that. He, embarrassed? How trivial.

She let out a sigh in frustration, her mahogany pools falling to the floor. Why did he have to be that way...? One moment, he was kind and gentle, and right afterwards he became this rough bandit again. Why did she care, anyway? It was not like she had been expecting anything from him... Not like she had wanted him to take her in his arms and kiss her like he had done previously...
Oh, who was she kidding...?
It was irrational. It made no sense what-so-ever. It had no reason to be. Yet, she longed for savouring his lips again, for feeling his skin against hers... There was something about him... Perhaps a certain wildness she had witnessed in no man before was what attracted her to him...either that, or she had just gone plain insane.

He noted her sigh of exasperation. Recovering from his flushed state, his patented smirk appeared again. "Well, my lady," He dipped down in a low bow with an extravagent flourish of his hands. "Shall I escort you to the kitchens and fetch you something to eat?"

Earth-brown oculars were cast upwards and glanced at the tall young man stading before them as Kikyou considered his offer for a second. "Sure." Was her simple reply as she came to her feet and spared him what looked like a faint smile.

He took her arm before she could protest and gently guided her out of the room, towards the kitchens and the meal he promised. He glanced down at his stomach, which was threatening to rumble any minute now. He hadn't eaten in awhile.
