Concerned, he stood up and gently took her hands, silently examining them. He took one of his thumbs and stroked it along her palm. "Does this hurt?" he asked softly. "If it does, you should get it iced at once..."
A figure that had originally been passing by stopped to gawk. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the old boy Senshi Sesshoumaru!" he quirked a brow as he took in Kikyou. "And what's this? Your fiance'? Or have you already tied the knot?" he smiled sweetly. "Newly weds, perhaps? Ahh, young love..."
"Houshi-sama," Sesshoumaru growled, dropping Kikyou's hand at once, turning both an embarrassed and furious shade of red.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!
Kikyou mentally screams, her face turning almost crimson. Who was that Houshi person, why the heck was he doing there and, foremost importantly, why did he say those things about Sesshoumaru and her? So sure, they had been caught on a rather 'sweet' moment, if so to say, but he was just being nice... It didn't mean anything...
"Um... I'll go get some ice to put on my hands..." She stares down and walks off, blushing even more.

Sesshoumaru slammed his fist down on the table, at once snatching up his coffee and taking an enormous gulp, despite the fact that it was absolutely scalding.
"Houshi Miroku," he glared down into the depths of his steaming, murky liquid, still fighting off a fluster, though now he supposed he could rather blame it on his body temperature. "Just what do you think you're doing?"
Miroku looked genuinely surprised. "I didn't mean anything by it, Sesshoumaru. Honestly. What with your old feelings for her and that absolutely adorable scene I just witnessed, I figured you two were together. Sorry," he shrugged.
"Look..." Sesshoumaru's voice was unusually gruff and grated. "She doesn't mean anything to me..." he paused, his heart clenching as he lied, "And she never has, okay? I don't know what you perceived as a 'adorable scene' but it wat your damn imagination, okay? I'd appreciate it if you'd just stay the heck out of things..."
Miroku stared at him strangely for a moment, then cast a nervous glance behind the other man, before nodding quickly. "I'll just be on my way..." he chuckled nervously, fleeing the scene at once.

"Heh... That Miroku..." Kikyou forces a laugh, which comes out pretty nervously, as she walks back to her table, holding some ice cubes. "Always trying to be the funny one..."
She takes her seat and stares down, blushing at the very thought that her sad attempt to fix that awkward situation would fail.

Sesshoumaru, forgetting his embarrassment for a moment, looked at her keenly. "Are you alright?" he asked, with a dip of his head in the direction of the hand that held the ice-cubes. His own throat was still burning, but he was not about to show the pain he was in.

"Hmm?" She looks up at him, slightly surprised at his concern. Not willing to seem like the weak one, Kikyou nods as a radiant smile sprouts on her lips. "Yeah, I just got some minor burns, but that's alright. I'm definitely not drinking that coffee right now, though, otherwise I'll have my tongue burned as well."
Laughing softly at her own careless nature, she looks down again and notices that Sesshoumaru's cup was half empty; He had probably drunk his expresso even when it was boiling hot!
"Um... what about you?" She asks in a worried, yet shy tone. "That coffee was rather hot when you took a sip..."

"I'm quite alright," he half-lied (his mouth had begun to feel better). "I'm used to it," he idly shrugged. Glancing at his watch, he added, "Anyway...We've only got...twelve minutes left...Let's make the best of that time,"

"Alright." She carefully puts her cup aside, saving it for later, when the drink has cooled down a bit. Taking out a pen, she flips through her notebook until she finds a blank page, then she writes something on it and turns back to her partner. "So what we have to do is write a short story using myths from the Japanese Sengoku Jidai... Do you know of any?"
(Ahem...'Let's make the best of that time'... It didn't sound right... Sessh, Sessh... what are you planning? XD)

Sesshoumaru stroked his chin thoughtfully after downing the rest of his expresso in but a few gulps. "...Well, there is the legend of the bone-eaters well...The two inu brothers...The Shikon no Tama, and of course...The girl who overcame time," he rattled off, racking his brain.

"Hmm..." She puts her pen down, taking a sip of her coffee. Frowning upon tasting such bitter drink, she places the cup back down, dropping some low-calory sugar inside it. "And which one do you think we should work with?"

He looked at her with such intensity, with such a mischevious smirk, that he failed to comprehend that he was breaking his vow every moment he was around this young woman, "They are all, in some way or another, connected," he informed her coolly.

"Well, yeah, but we will have to focus on one of those..." She takes another sip of her drink and licks her lips, quite satisfied with its taste now. "I mean, it's only a short story and, as much as I love writing, we'll have to keep it down... Three to five pages, I believe."

Sesshoumaru continued to look thoughtful. "You know...Now that I think about it, I remember reading this one myth-slash-legend...Supposably, not many people knew about it, but...They say the miko and the elder of the Inu-brothers were secret lovers..."
(*hums innocently*)

"The miko? You mean, the one who guarded the Shikon no Tama?" Kikyou suddenly looks very interested at their conversation. Being an avid fan of the whole mystery behind the sacred jewel, and even more of the powerful and dedicated miko who sacrificed everything she had to protect the Tama. "But I thought she had fallen in love with the younger one..."
(Shia, you are evil! XD)

"She did," Sesshoumaru smiled, pleased that she knew what she was talking about. This legend had always been one of his favorites and pretty much everyone he had tried to discuss it with in the past didn't know jack. "The text wasn't too clear, but it did mention that after the younger one and the reincarnation met, some stuff happened that caused the two to meet. They said it was a slow process, but the two eventually fell in love..."
He idly crunched his styrofoam cup. "...That would kind of be cool to write about...Since there's not much info recorded..."
(Bwaha. I know.)
